David, I would like your thoughts on how to integrate this into the political situation. Everything I hear from the Palestinian "side" ignores and denies this. Does this excuse the Israelis to some degree from fault for killing, sadly, many Palestinian civilians.
I also see a lack of acknowledgment of this fact, or any reasonable discussion of what an appropriate Israeli response would be given this fact. For instance, Palestinian journalist Wafa Al-Udaini went on TalkTV and refused to answer host Julia Hartley-Brewer's question, which she asked five or six times, of what would be a “proportionate response” from Israel given that Al-Udaini said what we are seeing is horrible because is is disproportionate. I suspect Al-Udaini refused to answer because if she did, her answer would be that Israel should essentially do nothing.
Does this excuse Israel to some degree? Absolutely, because you cannot be held exclusively responsible when another party kidnaps your children then puts Palestinians between you and getting your kids back. But this, of course, does not give Israel unlimited license.
The only thing not brought up is summed up in "Hamas’s Strategy of Human Sacrifice
Never before has a party adopted a war strategy to maximize civilian deaths on its own side." by Douglas J. Feith. https://www.thefp.com/p/hamass-strategy-of-human-sacrifice
