Today my 10 year old son told me after a conversation about the crusades: "I'm going to read about ancient Rome, the British Empire, and the Holy Bible, learn from them and write an article about them!" It was a proud moment.

Happy Fathers' Day David!

Ha! Happy Father's Day, Oliver. I'm sure he'll enjoy learning about Godfrey of Bouillon's humility, Richard the Lionheart's bravery, and Baldwin IV's fortitude. Deus vult.

The idea of human dignity comes from Judaism and the Hebrew Bible. Never forget that. Man was made in the image of God, as in Genesis. A thousand years before Christianity, Ancient Israel understood that.

Christianity unfortunately took very little from Israel, unless it proved their religion to them. And this, only by misreading the Hebrew Bible, particularly the prophets. From Paul already, as early as 50AC, the Torah was ditched and the cherry-picking began.
